The company was founded six years ago
to develop organic nutrition management aids, disease and pest management
aids. Today we are a full fledged manufacturing company with a bouquet of
27 products providing complete solutions of inputs to organic agriculture.
We have also made tremendous forays in the field of organic farming and
have a substantial range of organic produce to offer thro our OCM (Organic
Cultivation & Marketing) Division. What is more, we have recently added
a third division namely the MADP division to cater to the market demand
of Medicinal, Aromatic and Dye Plants. Thus Phalada today consists of three
divisions.
Input Division A range comprising of 27 products and counting, provide complete inputs solution to organic farming, with an efficacy that surpasses the so called quick action of the synthetic inputs. All products are cost effective, and consist of fertilizers, micro nutrients, bio control agents, disease and pest control agents. All the products are certified as suitable for organic farming as per EU 2092/91 & NSOP (India). OCM Division As a forward integration of our activities, three years ago we set up a "Not for Profit" trust by the name Phaladaayi Foundation to recruit and train farmers in organic farming. This trust also provides complete assistance to farmers in converting their conventionally cultivated farms to certified organic farms. A well thought out and practical internal control system (ICS) is in place and all farmers are trained not only in organic farming but also in being able to comply with the ICS. Today there are three organic groups of farmers, with a total membership of 110 covering an area of approximately 1000 acres growing different crops. The number of groups are increasing and by 2005 we expect 5 active groups comprising of 500 farmers involved in organic cultivation of more than 3000 acres. Phalada markets the produce of all the members of the groups on a non exclusive basis. A separate division (OCM division) has been formed to handle this business. The farmers get a fair price for their produce and the transactions are completely transparent. Phalada also carries out the post harvest processing of the produce whenever the farmer is found lacking in expertise or does not have the facilities. All the farmers in the group practice the concept of social justice. For instance they provide educational facilities for the children of the farm workers, and they care about the hygienic living conditions of the farm workers. The main products presently being grown are Coffee, Pepper, Cardamom, Citrus Fruits, Cloves, Turmeric and Ginger. We can take up production of many other crops as per the customer's requirements. MADP Division To maximise the income to the farmer groups, Phalada gets the farmers to grow medicinal, aromatic and dye plants in their farms as inter crops or as rotation crops. The farmers are provided with the planting material after finding out the suitability of the species for the farms, provided with the inputs and finally the produce is bought from the farmers at pre-determined prices. These are then suitably processed and sold in the National and International markets. This business is handled by the MADP division. The produce presently on offer are, Acacia concinna, Adatoda vasica, Artmesia palleus, Asparagus racemosus, Azadiracta Indica, Bacopa monnieri, Bixa orellana, Bosewalla serata, Catharanthus roseus, Citronella, Centella asiatica, Coleus Forskholii, Cymbopogan Citratus, Cymbopogan Winterianus, Eclipta alba, Gymnema-sylvestra, Indigofera tinctoria, Jasminum sambac Marjoram, Mentha piperita, Mentha spicorta, Ocimum sanctum, Piper longum, Pogostomon Patchouli, Plantago ovata, Rauvolfia serpentina, Rosenarnus Officinalis, Sapindus trifoliatus, Solanum virum, Stevia rebaudiana, Urtica Diaoca and Withania somnifera. The range is fast expanding. Phalada can take up contract farming from interested buyers for supply of the Medicinal, Aromatic and Dye plants. Our farms and the produce there of are certified to conform to EU 2092/91 NOP of USDA and NSOP of Govt. of India. We can also have additional certification done as per the requirements of the customers. Phalada is a quality conscious company and is actively implementing quality systems as per ISO 9000 standards and HACCP system of food safety analysis. Phalada is one of the first Indian organizations to sign up for the code of conduct for organic trade and presently is putting in earnest efforts to implement the code. * Organic agri inputs * Organic Cultivation
